CAIRO – Egyptian Emigration Minister Soha Gendy has greatly appreciated “decisive measures” taken by the Kyrgyz authorities to protect students and restore calm at the campus of one of the universities in Kyrgyzstan after clashes among students.
Gendy said Monday she is closely following up conditions of Egyptians studying in Kyrgyzstan, especially after inquiries from parents about the situation in the Central Asian country.
She added that this is part of her Ministry’s strategy to maintain contact with Egyptians abroad.
Gendy said she is coordinating action with the Foreign Ministry until stability is achieved on campus.
Egyptian students are advised to abide by guidelines set by the Interior Ministry and Higher Education Ministry in Kyrgyzstan, she urged, also stressing that they should keep in touch with the Egyptian Embassy there and stick to their online schedules until further notice from authorities concerned.
