Egyptian Minister of State for Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates’ Affairs Soha Gendi said Egypt is keen on developing historical places, notably Historic Cairo.
Gendi made the remarks during her virtual meeting with Hala Ghonim, who is a member of the ministry’s Council of Experts and Scholars and Professor of Visual Politics and Heritage at the Dresden University of Technology (TUD), according to a statement released by the Emigration Ministry on Monday.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed a number of proposals for preserving Egyptian cultural and civilizational heritage.
The pair also probed the possibility of promoting Egyptian handicrafts and heritage products around the world and organizing exhibitions for handicraft industries at home.
Ghonim proposed some projects for preserving the Egyptian cultural heritage and manuscripts through modern technologies.
Ghonim also warned of systematic campaigns abroad claiming that the Egyptian State is destroying its cultural heritage.
In this regard, the minister stated these systematic campaigns seek to harm the Egyptian State, especially in light of the significant progress the country is witnessing in various areas.
