Egypt’s Minister of State for Emigration and Expatriates’ Affairs Soha Gendi has called for holding an emergency meeting of the National Committee for Monitoring the Affairs of Students Abroad to discuss complaints of Egyptian students returning from conflict-hit areas in Sudan.

The minister made the remarks following a meeting with the parents of some Egyptian students at the premises of the Ministry of Emigration in the New Administrative Capital.

The minister listened to parents’ complaints regarding their sons’ enrolment at national and private universities, according to a statement issued by the Emigration Ministry on Tuesday.

Gendi reassured the parents about the situation of the students and asserted that the state attaches great importance to achieving the interest of its students and spares no effort in this regard.

Meanwhile, the parents called for extending the period set by the Supreme Council of Universities for proving the enrollment at Sudanese universities for six more months, similar to the case of the students returning from Ukraine.
