Electronics giant investment for nationwide expansion 1 - Egyptian Gazette

Egypt’s Minister of Trade and Industry Ahmed Samir on Sunday met with Samsung Egypt chairman Chunky Kwan and his delegation to review the company’s projects currently underway in Egypt.

Discussions also covered Samsung’s expansion plans in the local market.

Samsung is an important electronic firm manufacturing smart phones in Egypt, the minister said, adding that he hoped to attract more international high-tech electronics companies to invest here.

The government will give all manner of support to local and foreign investors and to remove obstacles to the realisation of their plans, the minister said.

Samir said his ministry is upgrading the infrastructure of industrial areas nationwide to encourage investors to establish new ventures.

There is a distinct opportunity to increase Samsung exports to Africa in line with the African Continental Free Trade Agreement, Samir said, noting that the ratification by 43 out of 55 African countries of the agreement opens greater access to Egyptian exports to the rest of Africa.

Samsung Egypt chairman said the company is keen to expand its investments in Egypt, as it is one of the most important promising markets and a gateway for products to the Middle East and Africa.

He added that the company exports 85 per cent of its products to markets of 50 states in the Middle East and African and European continents.
