The Ministry of Education announced on Sunday some details about the first semester exams for first and second year secondary school pupils.

Around 1.2 million pupils are due to take their first semester examinations for the academic year 2021/2022.

Minister of Education, Tarek Shawky, said basic subject examinations would be carried out electronically.

He added that there would be multiple-choice questions and that assessments would be conducted electronically as well, without any human intervention.

Nonetheless, the minister revealed that some of parts of the exams would be paper-based.

These paper-based examinations, the minister said, would be placed and corrected at the school level.

He noted that pupils would also be allowed to open their electronic books during the examinations.

The electronic books, he added, could be accessed via specific links available on the tablets provided the pupils earlier.
