The Egyptian Cabinet’s Information and Decision Support Centre’s (IDSC) said reserves of electrical energy reached 13,000 MW, approaching global reserve rate (25 per cent of generated energies).
This came in an infographic published by the IDSC under the rubric “Egyptian Electricity Sector Achieves Tangible Leaps.”
That can be attributed to tireless efforts exerted in this sector over the past years, it pointed out.
The centre said electricity generated from wind power had a capacity of nearly 1,634 MW, against early 547 MW in 2014-2015.
The current capacity of power generated from solar energy reached approximately 1,631 MW, compared to approximately 140 MW in 2014-2015, according to it.
The centre added 3,300 MW of electrical power generated from wind power and solar energy are expected to be added in 2023-2025.
