CAIRO – Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat Monday discussed with a delegation of the World Bank (WB) aspects of co-operation and partnership along with implementing development and support programmes in various sectors of electricity and renewable energy.

The meeting – which was attended by Energy Economist at the WB Arthur Kochnakyan who led the bank delegation – discussed a number of working files that will be carried out during the coming period, within the framework of strategic relations with the bank.

Minister Esmat reviewed developments of the joint cooperation, technical support and development projects. He also reviewed the model of load forecast and plans to expand the power generation.

The minister briefed the WB delegation on strategy of the electricity sector to ensure diversifying the mix of energy, upgrading the energy storage systems (ESS), reinforcing reliance on green hydrogen and exporting green energy through partnership with the private sector.

Esmat hailed fruitful co-operation between the Electricity Ministry and the WB, i.e, supporting the modernization of the national power grid.
