Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat held a meeting on Wednesday with Deputy Director General of Rosatom Andrey Petrov and officials from the Russian state corporation’s infrastructure company to review the latest developments and implementation plans for an integrated seawater desalination project in the Dabaa region.
The meeting covered the project’s technical and implementation aspects, necessary steps for establishing the integrated desalination system, and the use of Rosatom’s latest technologies and specialised expertise.
Egypt FM receives Churches for ME Peace delegation
Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation, and Egyptians Abroad Badr Abdel-Aaty received on Wednesday a delegation from the American organisation Churches for Middle East Peace, headed by Executive Director Rev May Ellis Cannon, to discuss efforts to promote peace and peaceful coexistence in the region.
As the meeting started, Abdel-Aaty stressed Egypt’s commitment to strengthening communication with international religious and community institutions and promoting peaceful coexistence, respect for others, and acceptance of religious and cultural diversity as fundamental pillars of lasting peace and stability.
He underscored the importance of dialogue and understanding and rejecting hatred, incitement and violence.
Cabinet reviews oil, gas production, strategic reserves, future supplies
Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly reviewed on Wednesday developments in oil and gas production, strategic petroleum reserves and future supplies, stressing the importance of maintaining market stability and ensuring the continued availability of petroleum products for productive and service sectors.غ
During the weekly Cabinet meeting at the New Administrative Capital, Madbouly said President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi had directed the provision of necessary incentives to foreign partners to expand exploration and development activities, increase production and overcome obstacles facing work programmes.
Education Ministry expands programming, AI curriculum
The Ministry of Education and Technical Education has decided to expand the teaching of programming and artificial intelligence to students in technical education and applied technology schools, following the resounding success of the programming curriculum introduced for first-year secondary students during the previous academic year.
The programme’s success resulted in 85 Egyptian students receiving training grants at international companies, while another 10 students are scheduled to travel to Japan to participate in specialised training programmes.
The Ministry said in a statement that this experience demonstrated the value of programming education and encouraged its expansion to technical education students.
‘37,000 optional insurance policies issued to Egyptians abroad since upgrade’
Around 37,000 optional insurance policies have been issued to Egyptians working and residing abroad since the upgraded personal accident insurance policy came into effect at the beginning of August, with total premiums reaching approximately LE14.8 million, according to figures from the Egyptian Travel Insurance Pool.
The figures reflect growing demand among Egyptians abroad for enhanced insurance protection following the development of the policy under a co-operation protocol between the Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.For the first time, the upgraded policy offers optional coverage against arbitrary dismissal, alongside existing protections.

US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that it was “time to teach Canada you can’t do this anymore,” just days after trade talks between the neighboring countries broke down.”I had a deal, that was a pretty good deal, you know, quite good,” Trump told Glenn Beck in an interview.
“They don’t have anything that we have to have, okay, we can get by. I mean, there are a couple of things that would make it a little inconvenient, but we can get them elsewhere. And it’s time to teach Canada you can’t do this anymore.”
Trump imposed new 50% tariffs on $20 billion of Canadian imports on Saturday after talks between the two countries collapsed.
Canada hit back on Tuesday with retaliatory tariffs on about $20 billion worth of U.S. annual imports and rolled out aid for businesses and workers, matching Washington’s latest duties dollar for dollar. They take effect on September 8.
