Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawy said Monday El-Hamra petroleum port is a strategic arm of Egypt’s petroleum infrastructure.

It is no longer just a port for handling crude oil, but a regional hub attracting foreign investment and a fundamental pillar in Egypt’s plans to transform into a regional center for energy trade and circulation, thanks to its distinguished location and growing storage capacities.

This statement was made during the Minister’s attendance via video conference at the general assembly meetings for the Western Desert Operating Petroleum Company (WEPCO), which runs the El-Hamra petroleum port in the El Alamein area, and Badr Petroleum Company, to approve the financial results for the fiscal year (2024/2025).

The meetings were attended by officials from the petroleum sector.

The minister ordered swift development of El-Hamra port in cooperation and coordination with counterparts at the Port of Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates(UAE), leveraging their successful experiences to elevate it to the ranks of global ports specializing in energy trade.

He stressed the importance of implementing proactive plans and measures to preserve the environment as a priority in the petroleum work system.

For his part, WEPCO Chairman Ibrahim Massoud reviewed the pivotal role of El-Hamra port’s facilities in receiving and handling crude oil.
