Lieutenant-General Ahmed Khalifa, Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces, concluded an official visit to Turkey on Sunday, aimed at bolstering military cooperation between the two nations.

During his visit, Khalifa held bilateral discussions with his Turkish counterpart, General Metin Gürak, on the sidelines of the fourth Egyptian-Turkish Military Committee meeting. Talks focused on strengthening joint training, knowledge exchange, and broader defense collaboration. The two sides signed the final session protocol, affirming their shared commitment to deepening military ties.

Khalifa also met with Turkish Minister of Defence Yaşar Güler, delivering greetings from General Abdel Mageed Saqr, Egypt’s Commander-in-Chief and Minister of Defence. He reaffirmed Egypt’s appreciation for its defense partnership with Turkey. Minister Güler commended Egypt’s constructive regional and international role and emphasized the importance of joint efforts to address security challenges and enhance regional stability.

The Egyptian delegation also engaged with the head of Turkey’s Defence Industry Agency to explore avenues for industrial cooperation. Khalifa toured several advanced defense manufacturing facilities and observed live exercises at the Turkish Special Forces Command.

Concluding his visit, Khalifa paid tribute to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, founder of modern Turkey, by laying a wreath at his mausoleum. The delegation was formally received with military honors, including a ceremonial guard and the playing of both nations’ anthems.
