Egypt’s Transport Minister Kamel el Wazir held a meeting via video conference with Group Managing Director of the Chinese company of Hutchison Eric Ip in the presence of Hutchison Executive Director in Europe and Egypt Clemence Cheng.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Ministry of Transport said that the meeting discussed activating a memorandum of understanding inked between the ministry and the company on November 10 in 2021 on the sidelines of TRANSMEA2021 on joint co-operation in the field of managing and operating container stations in platforms 100 in both Dekheila and Sokhna ports.
The meeting also tackled following up discussions and negotiations on the conditions and main regulations governing the partnership between both side to reach an agreement to build and develop the superstructure.
During the meeting, Wazir said that there are promising investment opportunities in the different domains in Egypt in the fields of railways, land transport, dry ports and logistic zones, urging all the international and local investors to invest in these opportunities.
Meanwhile, Ip expressed happiness over this co-operation and partnership, asserting keenness on investing in the maritime transport sector in Egypt.
Also, Cheng said that the company is looking forward to inking tan agreement with the ministry as soon as possible.
