Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi affirmed Egypt’s keenness on fostering closer economic and trade cooperation with Qatar’s business community and companies, and increasing joint investment.
This aims to support the path of economic growth and development in the two countries, in joint efforts to boost mutual interests and leverage the available opportunities, added President Sisi during his meeting Saturday with representatives the Qatari Businessmen Association.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of President Sisi’s participation in launching the first international forum and exhibition for industry.
The meeting was attended by Chairman of the Qatari Businessmen Association Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim al Thani, Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, Electricity and Renewable Energy Minister Mohamed Shaker, Petroleum and Mineral Wealth Minister Tarek el Molla, Planning and Economic Development Minister Hala el Saeed, and Trade and Industry Minister Ahmed Samir.
President Sisi welcomed the meeting with the Qatari businessmen, saying that the meeting embodies the brotherly cooperation between the two countries, said Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady.
President Sisi also hailed the remarkable improvement in the economic and trade ties between the two countries, added the spokesman.
Egypt offers a diverse set of promising investment opportunities, the spokesman quoted President Sisi as saying during the meeting.
Among these opportunities is the Suez Canal Area Development Project, which involves several major industrial and logistical zones, President Sisi said.
Such project provides promising opportunities to Qatari companies which are interested in benefiting from Egypt’s strategic location, he added.
For his part, the chairman of the Qatari Businessmen Association expressed honor and pleasure to meet again with President Sisi.
He confirmed that this meeting offers a great opportunity to strengthen the bonds of fraternity and joint cooperation.
He further underlined keenness to explore ways to step-up cooperation between the two countries, given the various fields and the promising investment opportunity available in Egypt, especially in the sectors of renewable energy, tourism, industry, and mining.
Additionally, the representatives of the Qatari companies said they welcome to propel cooperation with Egypt to attain mutual interests.
In this regard, they underlined the need of activating the role of the joint business council and enhancing communication between the representatives of the private sectors in the two countries.
