Egyptian Prime Minister Dr Mostafa Madbouly has issued a decision to establish an integrated unit for the protection of women against violence where complaints and reports related to issues of violence against women are to be received and collected.
The unit, according to the decision, is to be affiliated with the Cabinet and based in the Greater Cairo area, while its branches may be established in various governorates upon the premier’s decision and a proposal by the General Supervisor.
The unit’s goal is to receive complaints and reports related to issues of violence against women through representatives of the ministries and agencies concerned to take necessary measures in this respect, in accordance with the law and to communicate and coordinate with the ministries and authorities concerned regarding them until a decision is taken as regards enabling the victims to submit and follow up their complaints in one place for ease of access to all procedures and to ensure the protection of their rights.
In addition, the unit is to coordinate with the ministries and authorities concerned to provide suitable temporary accommodation for the victims during the investigation procedures, according to the decision.
