CAIRO – Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli returned home on Saturday after a successful visit to Tunisia, where he headed a high-level delegation, including ministers and senior officials.

Tunisian Prime Minister Najla Bouden paid farewell to Madbouli at the Tunis Carthage International Airport after his two-day visit to the Arab country, where the premier co-chaired with Bouden the 17th session of the Egyptian-Tunisian Joint Higher Committee meetings.

During the visit, the premier signed a number of documents to cement bilateral cooperation between Tunis and Cairo.

Madbouli described his visit to Tunisia as a starting point for deepening relations in various fields.

I conveyed a letter from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to his Tunisian counterpart Kais Saied, reaffirming Egypt’s full support for all Tunisian institutions and its full confidence in achieving the aspirations of the Tunisian people.

In a joint press conference with his Tunisian counterpart Bouden, the Egyptian premier said an agreement is planned to launch periodic joint meetings between businessmen in the two countries.

Another agreement was reached to overcome many difficulties, in addition to agreeing to run a maritime line to contribute to the transport of goods between the two countries, he added.

I will follow up on the implementation of all the items agreed upon in coordination with the Tunisian prime minister, Madbouli said according to MENA.

The two sides agreed to unify viewpoints on the Libyan file, based on the need for an intra-Libyan solution without external interference.

The meetings also tackled the circumstances of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, as well as Egypt’s preparations to host the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 27) in November.

In turn, Bouden praised the sincere results that emerged from the economic forum, which leads to boosting trade exchange and bilateral relations.

She thanked the Egyptian state for its support for Tunisia during the coronavirus pandemic, noting the valuable and fraternal relations between the two presidents.

A final cooperation draft was approved and 11 agreements were signed in various fields between the two countries, the Tunisian premier said.

She expressed aspiration for more areas of cooperation and benefiting from the enormous potentials of the two countries.

The year 2023 will be the year of economic cooperation between Tunisia and Egypt, Bouden added.
