CAIRO – Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala Elsaid underscored the well-established strategic and trade relations between Egypt and India, highlighting President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s visit to Asia’s third largest economy in 2023 when a declaration had been signed to upgrade relations to a strategic partnership.

Elsaid made the remarks during a meeting with a visiting high-level Indian delegation of the National Institution for Transforming India (NITI) led by Indian Ambassador to Egypt Ajit Gupte and Indian Trade, Economy and International Trade Adviser Sanjeet Singh to discuss means of boosting cooperation.

The minister reviewed work files of the Planning and Economic Development Ministry, which is tasked with ensuring the implementation of Egypt Vision 20230 – the national edition of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Africa’s Agenda 2063.

She noted that the ministry is assigned with outlining the state’s long, medium and short-term investment plans.

Elsaid highlighted the key role of her ministry in carrying out a set of national initiatives in cooperation with ministries and bodies concerned, including the “Decent Life” presidential initiative that aims to improve the living standards of people in Egypt’s countryside.
