CAIRO – Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tareq el Mulla has underlined the importance of the recently signed tripartite memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation among Egypt, Israel, and the European Union.
He reiterated on Friday that the memo would contribute to encouraging global companies to speed up the production and development of infrastructure and natural gas resources in the Middle East region.
The minister made his remarks during a meeting with European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson in the presence of the EU ambassador in Cairo Christian Berger.
The MoU would also help achieve energy security and welfare for peoples, El Mulla added.
Simson lauded good joint action and fruitful cooperation between the EU and Egypt on securing the supply of natural gas in the Middle East region.
Both sides also discussed Egypt’s genuine efforts for diversifying the energy sources and increasing new and renewable resources.
