CAIRO – Egypt’s non-oil trade deficit reached $6.4 billion during the first quarter of 2024, compared to about $8.3 billion during the same period of the previous year.
This decrease of 22.9 per cent is due to the decrease in the value of non-oil imports into the country and the increase of non-petroleum exports.
This came in the 13th issue of the ‘Non-Petroleum Commodities Exports’ report issued by the cabinet’s Information and Decision Support Centre (IDSC).
The report also noted an increase in the value of Egypt’s non-oil exports by about 10.2 per cent in the first quarter of 2024. Non-oil exports were recorded at $9.7 billion compared to $8.8 billion during the same quarter of 2023.
Meanwhile, the value of non-oil imports reached $16.1 billion during Q1 of 2024, compared to about $17.1 billion during the same quarter of 2023.
