CAIRO – Egypt’s Mufti and President of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide Shawqi Allam extended greetings to Head of Egypt’s Coptic Orthodox Church Pope Tawadros II and all Christian denominations in Egypt on the occasion of Easter.
In a statement released on Friday, Allam said that such occasions and feasts are a genuine chance to express the feelings of fraternity and cordiality between Muslims and Christians who are closely tied with living together in peace in Egypt.
He said the nation’s enemies would never stop trying to disturb the harmony among Egyptians from time to time, adding that Egyptians’ awareness has helped in deterring such attempts.
Allam said Egypt is a model to be followed in spreading the values of citizenship and coexistence, praying for God to protect Egypt and its people so as to continue living in peace and stability and achieve more progress.
