CAIRO – Egyptian Irrigation Minister Mohamed Abdel Ati has underscored the need to shed light on water and climate change issues at all international events.
The minister made his remarks on Friday at a videoconferencing meeting of the water pavilion steering committee, which is part of the UN Climate Change Conference 2022 (COP 27), in the presence of the committee members from Egypt, England, Germany and the Netherlands and representatives of international organizations and agencies.
A large number of Arab and African water ministers have been invited to attend the Cairo Water Weeks (CWW), to be held in October under the theme “Water at the Heart of the Climate Action” as a preparatory platform for the UN Climate Change Conference (COP27), set for the Red Sea resort of Sharm El Sheikh in November.
The minister added that the several meetings will be held as part of the water pavilion to highlight water and climate change issues, in coordination with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the International Water Management Institute (IWMI).
