The Ministry of State for Information issued a statement on Tuesday rejecting a controversial article by Kuwaiti journalist Fouad Al-Hashem, which contained insults against Egypt, its people, and Arab values, as well as false claims about Egypt’s health and tourism sectors.
The ministry described the article as an unacceptable act of moral and professional decline. It praised Kuwaiti voices—media figures, intellectuals, officials, and citizens—who quickly condemned the remarks and reaffirmed the historic ties between Egypt and Kuwait.
The statement urged Egyptians not to confuse the actions of one individual with the Kuwaiti people, who remain committed to strong relations with Egypt. It warned against attempts to sow division between the two nations.
The ministry confirmed that Egypt’s Foreign Ministry, through its embassy in Kuwait, had contacted Kuwaiti authorities. Kuwait’s Foreign Minister informed his Egyptian counterpart that the case was referred to the public prosecutor. The Egyptian Information Minister also spoke with Kuwait’s Information Minister, expressing confidence that Kuwait would act firmly.
The ministry said it had submitted memoranda to journalist associations in Kuwait, Egypt, and the Arab world, calling for disciplinary measures. It urged Arab media and citizens to protect unity and resist attempts at provocation, stressing Egypt’s determination to confront any actions that harm national interests or relations with Arab partners.
