Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation and Egyptian Expatriates, Badr Abdel-Aati, met on Friday with Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the Russian State Duma.
The meeting, which took place during Abdel-Aati’s official visit to Moscow, focused on ways to strengthen parliamentary co-operation between Egypt and Russia. Abdel-Aati expressed Egypt’s anticipation of hosting Speaker Volodin in Cairo in the near future, aiming to further elevate bilateral relations and expand co-operation across multiple sectors.
The minister also stressed the importance of activating all committees and parliamentary frameworks for bilateral collaboration, emphasising institutional coordination, direct engagement, and the exchange of expertise between the legislative bodies. He noted the central role of parliamentary mechanisms in supporting and advancing all aspects of Egypt-Russia cooperation.
Minister Abdel-Aati further underscored the commitment to continue joint efforts to enhance economic, trade, and investment co-operation, including accelerating the Russian Industrial Zone project within the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone), attracting further Russian investment to Egypt, and advancing the establishment of a grain logistics hub to strengthen economic integration between the two nations.
The minister reaffirmed the Duma’s key role in supporting the strategic partnership between Egypt and Russia, emphasising the importance of building on existing co-operation in key areas such as energy security through the El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant project, oil and gas collaboration, and food security initiatives.
