Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aati held a series of phone calls with the foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, and Bahrain. Discussions focused on closely monitoring the rapidly escalating situation in the region and addressing the recent attacks targeting these countries.
The Egypotian top diplomat reiterated Cairo’s full solidarity with the Arab fellow countries, condemning the recent unacceptable and unjustified attacks. He also stressed the urgent need for Iran to immediately cease targeting Arab states.
Abdel-Aati also spoke with the deputy prime ministers and foreign ministers of Jordan and Iraq to review developments and coordinate responses amid the ongoing regional crisis.
The foreign minister highlighted the importance of de-escalation to prevent the region from descending into widespread instability.
He urged all parties to exercise maximum restraint, prioritise dialogue, and pursue political and diplomatic solutions while fully respecting state sovereignty and adhering to international law and the Charter of the United Nations.
Such measures are crucial to contain the current crisis and preventing further confrontation and escalation in the region, Abdel-Aati stressed.
