Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aati and Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, discussed, on Sunday the growing military escalation in the region and the repercussions on security and stability.
During a phone call, Abdel-Aati outlined the serious developments unfolding across the region, and warned of the grave political, security, and economic consequences if tensions continues.
He also stressed the urgent need to reduce escalation and prioritize diplomatic solutions.
This approach will prevent the conflict from spreading and protect the region from further instability, he warned.
The top diplomat emphasised that ongoing military action will only worsen conditions.
Abdel-Aati called for respect of state sovereignty and adherence to the principles of good neighborliness. He urged restraint and dialogue as the only way forward.
Grossi expressed appreciation for Egypt’s efforts to calm tensions.
He lauded Cairo’s initiatives aiming at promoting regional stability and advancing diplomatic paths to address current crises.
