Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aati left for Beirut on Thursday on a visit aiming to show steadfast support for Lebanon, and deliver a shipment of humanitarian and relief assistance provided by the Egyptian people.
The visit comes in response to the Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s instructions to address Lebanon’s urgent needs and help mitigate the worsening humanitarian situation, including the impact of internal displacement.
It reflects Egypt’s firm support for the Lebanese state at this critical time and its continued commitment to assisting national institutions in fulfilling their responsibilities, thereby safeguarding the country’s sovereignty, unity, security and stability, Foreign Ministry spokesman Ambassador Tamim Khallaf said in a statement.
Abdel-Aati is expected to hold meetings with senior Lebanese officials to convey a message of solidarity from Egypt.
Discussions will focus on reaffirming Egypt’s support for Lebanon in addressing current challenges, as well as exploring ways to enhance diplomatic coordination to contain the regional crisis and support efforts to restore stability.
