WASHINGTON – Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry has stressed that any forced displacement of Palestinians in or from the Gaza Strip is a violation of the international humanitarian law.
In an interview with CNN Friday, he reiterated that if Egypt allows temporarily the entry of the Palestinians to its territory until the end of the Israeli military operations in the strip, it will be a violation of the international humanitarian law.
The minister stressed, according to MENA, that Egypt will not be involved in this violation, reaffirming that the liquidation of the Palestinian cause is unacceptable.
Egypt has never been involved in any siege of the Gaza Strip as the Rafah Border Crossing was always open where the Palestinians move to have access to education or healthcare in Egypt.
Egypt has been always backing the Palestinians, he said, pointing out that Egypt contributed to reconstructing the Gaza Strip with some $500 million.
