Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aati met on Monday Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi in Muscat, the third leg of an Arab tour aiming at coordinating Arab positions and addressing the serious challenges facing the region.
According to Foreign Ministry Spokesman Tamim Khallaf, Abdel-Aati condemned the Iranian attacks targeting Arab Gulf states, reaffirming Egypt’s complete rejection of such actions and expressing the country’s full solidarity with Oman and other Gulf countries during this critical period.
The two ministers exchanged views on the current military escalation in the region, expressing deep concern over the widening scope of the conflict and stressing the urgent need to halt escalation and intensify efforts to reach political and diplomatic solutions.
They also emphasised the importance of respecting the principles of international law and the United Nations Charter, while preventing further instability in the region.Abdel-Aati voiced Egypt’s appreciation for the sagacious leadership of Sultan Haitham bin Tariq and the mediation the Sultanate have undertaken to help de-escalate tensions and advance peaceful solutions.
For his part, Al Busaidi expressed appreciation for Egypt’s role and its continued coordination with Oman in support of regional stability.
Following his visit to Oman, Abdel-Aati headed to the Jordanian capital, Amman, the fourth stop on his current Arab tour.
The visit aims to convey Egypt’s solidarity and full support to the Jordan in light of the security challenges afflicting the region.
During the visit, the Egyptian chief diplomat will hold talks with senior Jordanian officials to discuss ways to de-escalate tensions, prioritise the diplomatic track, and coordinate Arab efforts in addressing regional developments.
