Egyptian Minister of Culture Enas Abdel-Dayem took a break from her official duties for 30 minutes when she took to the stage to perform two pieces of music on the flute at the opening of the 13th Arab Music Festival and Conference at the Fountain Theatre in the Cairo Opera House.
The minister’s showcasing her musical talent was the most salient feature of the opening ceremony.
Abdel Dayem was head of Woodwind and Percussion at the Conservatoire and played in the Cairo Symphony Orchestra before she was appointed president of the Cairo Opera House in 2012 and Minister of Culture in 2018.
