Egypt’s Minister of Local Development Mahmoud Shaarawi asserted the choice of Egypt to organize the 12th session of the 2024 World Urban Forum is – for sure – expressing the confidence of the UN in efforts exerted by the political leadership over the past eight years.
Choosing Egypt to hold the event is reflecting progress the country made in achieving sustainable urban development, added Shaarawi following participating in the 11th session of the forum, held in Poland.
Cairo’s winning to host the forum is an international certification of the importance of the Egyptian experiment in comprehensive development efforts, he further said.
The selection of Egypt is consolidating the pivotal and crucial role it is playing at the regional, continental and international levels and the country’s main contribution to providing high-level dialogue platforms to face global challenges, according to him.
The WUF is the first and the most important global platform ever concerned with sustainable, urban development.
The minister said the convocation of the forum in Egypt will offer an opportunity for helping the world get acquainted with urban achievements made by the Egyptian state, topped by the New Administrative Capital (NAC) and the launch of the new republic.
