Egypt hosts around nine million people from different nationalities living in the country like guests and are enjoying all opportunities of education, work, and medical treatment, just like Egyptian people, the country’s ambassador in Rome Bassam Radi told an event organised by the Italian Senate.
He also stressed that Egypt has managed to prevent illegal immigration from its coasts since 2016, Radi added that any such illegal attempts to Italy is not conducted from the Egypt’s coasts, but from other countries.
The discussion on illegal immigration, was hosted by the Italian Senate to display Egypt’s vision on the issue. Several Italian Senators, and officials as well as journalists from popular Italian newspapers including La formica – affiliated to the Italian National Security – attended the seminar.
Solving the dilemma of irregular immigration to Europe can’t just be tackled through closure of borders, via addressing the dee roots of the problems, Radi stressed.
Europe must conduct serious studies to establish colossal infrastructure projects in Africa, in particular railway lines and international roads connecting the African countries together, which will bolster pan-Africa trade, and create new job opportunities, consequently curving illegal immigration to Europe, the Egyptian enoivy said.
He also pointed to the large investment opportunities available for Europe in infrastructure projects in Egypt and Africa.
