CAIRO – The Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics (CAPMAS) said that Consumer prices index (CPI) for the whole country saw a decrease of 225.6 points in June, 2024.
Egypt’s annual inflation recorded 27.1% in June, 2024, compared to 27.4% in May, 2024, CAPMAS said in a statement on Wednesday.
It added the monthly inflation rate for the country hit 1.8% in June, 2024 against -0.8% in May, 2024.
The agency attributed this decline to price drops across various food groups: fish and seafood (-0.1%), oils and fats (-0.3%), fruits (-2.6%) and sugar and sugary foods (-1.0%).
Conversely, price increases were noted in cereals and bread (13.5%) and meat and poultry (3.7%).
