Egypt’s Ambassador to Rome Bassam Radi has chaired an emergency meeting of the chiefs of Arab diplomatic missions in Italy to look into the latest developments in the occupied Palestinian territories and coordinate collective Arab action regarding the situation in the Palestinian territories.
Hosted by the Arab League mission in Rome, the meeting was called in pursuance of resolutions adopted by the Arab League to intensify Arab diplomatic action at the international level following the recent escalation in the Palestinian territories.
The resolutions call for bringing to a halt the continuous Israeli incursions into Palestinian cities and protecting them against repeated attacks and acts of escalation by the Israeli occupation authorities, which constitute a violation of international law.
Speaking to the meeting, Ambassador Radi underscored that the Palestinian cause constitutes a basic line in Egypt’s multi-level moves and contacts with members of the international community.
In this context, Ambassador Radi made reference to the statement issued by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry condemning in the strongest terms the attack the Israeli troops against the city of Jenin in the occupied West Bank.
The statement also reiterated Egypt’s utter rejection of repeated Israeli attacks and incursions into Palestinian cities, which result in the fall of victims from innocent civilians.
