Egyptian and Omani special forces concluded on Tuesday the joint military exercise “Qalat Al Jabal-2,” (Citadel of the Mountain-2) which was conducted over several days at combat training facilities of Egypt’s Thunderbolt (Sa’aka) Forces Command.
The exercise brought together personnel from the Egyptian Thunderbolt Forces and Omani special forces in a series of advanced combat training activities aimed at enhancing operational readiness and strengthening military co-operation between the two countries.
Training activities included a range of unconventional live-fire exercises carried out from various firing positions, demonstrating the participating troops’ accuracy and proficiency in engaging targets both while stationary and on the move.
The final phase of the exercise featured a tactical scenario involving the assault of a terrorist stronghold within a residential area. Using helicopters, special forces units carried out a hostage-rescue operation, apprehended terrorist elements, provided first aid, evacuated casualties and restored control over the city.
Addressing the closing ceremony, Thunderbolt Forces Commander Major General Abdel-Qader Emara Habib emphasized the importance of the exercise in exchanging expertise and gaining exposure to the latest special forces tactics.
He praised the high level of readiness demonstrated by the participating personnel and their ability to execute joint operations efficiently and professionally.
The final stage of the exercise was attended by senior Egyptian and Omani military commanders, as well as Oman’s military attaché in Cairo.
