The activities of the joint Egyptian-Jordanian drill “Aqaba 6″ kicked off yesterday and would last until December 2, the Armed Forces spokesman said in a statement posted on his official Facebook page.
The drill, he added, is being carried out by elements from the land and air defence forces with the participation of special forces, parachuters and specialized corps from both countries.
The preliminary phase of the drill included holding a number of theoretical and practical lectures to identify combat experiences and unify concepts between the participating elements on both sides as well as identifying the technical and tactical characteristics of weapons and equipment.
This comes in addition to acquiring field skills and special tactics to confirm the readiness of the forces to carry out joint combat actions.
The Aqaba drill is one of the most important exercises carried out by the Egyptian and Jordanian armed forces, which aims to confirm the ability and readiness of the participating elements to plan, coordinate and jointly implement the planned training missions at the specified times under various circumstances, the Armed Forces spokesman said.
The drill comes as part of the Armed Forces plan for staging joint training activities with brotherly and friendly countries, the Armed Forces spokesman said, adding that Aqba 6 aims to consolidate aspects of military partnership and co-operation between the armed forces of Egypt and Jordan. [END]
