Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty and Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi stressed Monday the need to move ahead with implementing all elements of plan launched at Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit.
In a phone contact, the Egyptian and Jordanian ministers said the political, humanitarian and development components of the plan form a practical path toward achieving Palestinian self-determination and establishing an independent Palestinian state on the lines of June 4, 1967, with Al-Quds (occupied East Jerusalem) as its capital.
The call came as part of ongoing coordination and consultations between the two countries on developments in Palestine and efforts to uphold the Sharm El Sheikh peace agreement.
The two ministers reviewed current efforts to consolidate the agreement and discussed consultations under way at the (United Nations) UN Security Council on a draft resolution concerning developments in Gaza and security arrangements.
They underlined the need for the resolution to help solidify the ceasefire and enable the international stabilization force to carry out its mandate in a way that ensures security for Palestinians and creates conditions for reviving the political process.
The Egyptian minister briefed his Jordanian counterpart on preparations for an international conference on early recovery and reconstruction in Gaza, underlining the importance of mobilizing regional and international support to ensure the effective implementation of the reconstruction plan and to alleviate humanitarian suffering.
The two sides also reaffirmed commitment to continued close coordination and consultation in support of efforts to achieve a just and comprehensive peace and to bolster security and stability in the region.
