Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty and Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani underlined during a phone call on Wednesday the importance of implementing the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolution regarding Gaza and the necessity of enabling the international stabilization force to carry out its mandate, contributing to consolidating the ceasefire and ensuring security for the Palestinian people inside the Gaza Strip.
The two ministers discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and reviewed developments in the Gaza Strip and the latest situation in Sudan.
Foreign Ministry Spokesman Tamim Khallaf said the two ministers praised the distinguished relations between the two friendly countries and affirmed their mutual keenness to enhance all aspects of bilateral relations and elevate them to broader horizons.
Abdelatty highlighted commitment to continue supporting economic and investment relations with Italy and enhancing trade exchange between the two countries.
Abdelatty said he is looking forward to strengthening cooperation with the Italian side in fields of energy, renewable energy, and natural gas, given Egypt’s capabilities in natural resources and infrastructure.
He emphasized the importance of holding the joint committee meeting as soon as possible under the chairmanship of the foreign ministers of both countries.
The spokesperson added that the call also addressed developments in the Gaza Strip.
Abdelatty reviewed Egypt’s efforts to ensure the consolidation of the Sharm El-Sheikh peace agreement and the implementation of all its terms, including political, humanitarian, and developmental aspects.
They also exchanged views and assessments regarding developments in Sudan, where Minister Abdelatty stressed the constants of Egypt’s position supporting Sudan’s unity, territorial integrity, and safeguarding its national institutions.
He affirmed Egypt’s complete rejection of any attempts aiming at dividing the country or harming its stability, renewing condemnation of the horrific atrocities witnessed in the city of Al-Fashir.
He stressed the necessity of intensified international efforts for a comprehensive ceasefire, creating conditions for launching a political process, and enabling a humanitarian track that ensures unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid.
