Egyptian Cabinet media center denied reports about a decision issued to collect fines from the university students who did not get the coronavirus vaccine.
In a statement on Friday, the center said it contacted the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research which dismissed the reports as groundless.
The ministry said that measures to be taken against the students who did not get the vaccine include not allowing them into the university compound without a vaccination certificate or requiring them to underdo PCR tests and submit them weekly with all anti-coronavirus precautionary measures to be tightened.
It called on the students who have not been vaccinated yet to swiftly get the vaccine at the vaccination points set up inside the universities.
Meanwhile, a total of 1.2 million doses of the coronavirus vaccine have been administered to the university staff and students until October 16 through 302 vaccination centers set up in 60 universities.
