CAIRO – The Egyptian-German Joint Committee for Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency, and Environmental Protection held an official workshop to discuss cooperation in the field of “green hydrogen,” aimed at supporting Egypt in becoming a regional hub through enhancing dialogue, exchanging knowledge among partners, developing an enabling regulatory framework, as well as collaborating with the German-Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce to engage the private sector.
According to a statement by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) on Facebook, GIZ has been successfully collaborating with the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy for 16 years, implementing the tasks of the Egyptian-German Joint Committee, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.
The workshop was attended by First Undersecretary of the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy for Strategic Planning, Performance, and International Cooperation Ahmed Mahina, the co-director of the committee Rami Moussa, and Ahmed Mahrous, the green hydrogen project manager at the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy.
The statement emphasized the need to strengthen international cooperation and advance the green hydrogen economy in Egypt as Germany and Egypt are committed, through their long-term cooperation in the energy sector, to expanding their collaboration in the field of “green hydrogen” following the launch of Egypt’s hydrogen strategy.
