PARIS – Communications and Information Technology Minister Amr Talaat had talks Thursday with Minister for Digital Transition and Telecommunications of France Jean-Noël Barrot on Egyptian-French projects in the fields of ICT, emerging technologies, artificial intelligence (AI), encouraging creativity and entrepreneurship among youth and opening up new vistas of cooperation.

This came on the sidelines of the Egyptian minister’s participation, on behalf of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, in the opening of VIVA Technology 2023, which is the 7th edition of Europe’s biggest startup and tech event taking place at Paris expo Porte de Versailles between 14 and 17 June.

Talks between the two ministers also covered the file of “Digital Egypt” which is a plan to transform Egypt into a digital society in alignment with Egypt Vision 2030, the mutual recognition of electronic signature documents to ease trade movement between both countries and cybersecurity.

At the end of the talks Talaat invited the French minister to visit Egypt together with representatives of ICT companies in France to get to know more about investment opportunities in the Egyptian tech market, especially in areas such as embedded systems and electronics design and manufacturing.
