CAIRO – Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty discussed with French Foreign Minister in the caretaker government Stéphane Séjourné the latest developments of the region and recent updates of the war on the Gaza Strip.
Both sides tackled the situation in Sudan and agreed on maintaining consultation and coordination to discuss ways of finding solutions to different escalating crises.
The two ministers also reiterated the importance of boosting Egyptian-French relations to serve interests of both the Egyptian and French nations.
In a telephone conversation Abdelatty had received from Séjourné, the French minister greeted the Egyptian foreign minister on assuming his new post and on the occasion of the 72nd anniversary of the July 23 Revolution.
Spokesman for the Foreign Affairs and Emigration Ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid said on Wednesday that Abdelatty commended historical ties binding Egypt and France, that are based on mutual respect and joint interests.
The minister said the Egyptian-French partnership has always been playing an important role in supporting security and stability in the Middle East region, added Abu Zeid.
The spokesman said the foreign minister appreciated French efforts that are supporting Egypt in international finance institutions and added he is looking forward France maintain its backing for Egypt and as part of EU.
The French foreign minister hailed deep and historical relations between Egypt and France and said Egypt is a key partner to France in the region.
The spokesman said the contact dealt with the latest developments in the region.
The foreign minister tackled the latest developments of the war on the Gaza Strip.
Abdelatty warned of serious repercussions of Israeli decisions that hinder efforts to reach the two-state solution.
The French minister said his country is seeking to have pivotal role to push forward efforts to solve the crisis in the coming phase.
The spokesman said the two ministers discussed conditions in Sudan as well.
The French foreign minister was posted on Abdelatty’s vision on regional efforts to solve the crisis. He said France appreciates Egypt’s call for a conference to bring together all Sudanese political and civil powers. The French minister praised the Egyptian role in this regard.
