CAIRO – Assistant Foreign Minister Ambassador Ashraf Ibrahim, General Coordinator for organisational and financial aspects of the UN Climate Conference (COP27), and General Manager of IBM Egypt Marwa Abbas signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) whereby IBM will be a technological partner for the UN Climate Conference, set to be held in Sharm El Sheikh in November.

In a statement released on Thursday, the Foreign Ministry said Ambassador Ibrahim welcomed IBM as a strategic partner for Egypt and highlighted the vital role of the private sector in backing the climate objectives, voicing hope over the continuation of such cooperation to render the conference successful.

During the conference, IBM is set to display means of benefiting from technology and advisory services to assist leaders of governments and companies in achieving balance between the main goals of institutions and the sustainable development requirements.

This comes while sticking to the organisational laws and measures without impacting profits, the company said in a statement.

Egypt is preparing to host COP27 in the Red Sea city of Sharm El-Sheikh from November 6 to 18 with ambitions to turn climate pledges into actions as per the Paris Agreement, in coordination with international partners.
