Cairo’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aati met with South Korean President Lee Jae-myung on Tuesday during a collective session with African ministers attending the Korea–Africa Ministerial Meeting in Seoul.
Abdel-Aati conveyed President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s greetings and delivered a written message highlighting Egypt’s appreciation for the growing bilateral relations. He praised President Lee’s visit to Egypt in November 2025 as a milestone in advancing cooperation and expressed hope for more high-level exchanges to further strengthen ties.
President Lee reciprocated with warm regards to President El-Sisi, voicing deep appreciation for the strong Egypt–Korea partnership and commending Egypt’s efforts to ease regional tensions and support stability.
The Egyptian foreign minister emphasized that his visit builds on the momentum in bilateral relations, describing them as a successful model of cooperation. He underscored Egypt’s commitment to expanding economic and investment collaboration, presenting opportunities in national mega-projects and inviting Korean companies to increase their presence. Abdel-Aati also highlighted priority areas for cooperation, including artificial intelligence, advanced technology, digital transformation, innovation, and green transition.
He further praised the Korea–Africa partnership, noting Egypt’s role as a gateway to the continent, and expressed anticipation for the upcoming Korea–Africa Summit in 2029, aimed at deepening political and economic ties.
