CAIRO- Egypt’s Deputy foreign minister for African affairs Hamdy Loza has denounced an accusation by Ethiopia’s state minister for foreign affairs for Egypt of attempting to politicize the Renaissance Dam file.
Egypt’s concerns about the repercussions of the Renaissance Dam project for its water security are real and are based on documented scientific studies, Loza said in press statements Wednesday.
The Ethiopian accusation is as good as a no-responsibility disclaimer, Loza said, noting that it reflects indifference to the principles of international law and good neighborhood.
He regretted the fact that Ethiopian officials continue to express willingness to resume talks under the auspices of the AU in a new attempt to gain further time and complete the filling of the dam without reaching an agreement.
