Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty had talks over the phone with Cypriot Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos on boosting bilateral ties within the framework of constant coordination and consultation between the two countries.
In statements on Friday, Spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigration Ahmed Abu Zeid said that Abdelatty, during the phone call, asserted Egypt’s keenness on consolidating economic and trade cooperation with Cyprus in various domains.
The two sides also stressed the importance of boosting bilateral cooperation in new areas with the view to sustaining the economic interests of the two countries, the spokesman said.
The two ministers also agreed to meet on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly’s meetings to follow up on the path of bilateral cooperation within the framework of the tripartite cooperation mechanism between Egypt, Greece and Cyprus, and setting the stage for the 10th tripartite summit with Greece in the coming period, the spokesman said.
They also expressed their keenness to step up efforts to avoid the rapid escalation of violence and instability in the region and continue regular communications to stand on the latest developments on this score, the spokesman concluded.
