SHARM EL SHEIKH – Egypt’s Petroleum Minister Tarek el Mulla had talks on Sunday with Australian Minister for Environment and Climate Action Reece Whitby on means of promoting bilateral cooperation in the field of mining as well as energy transition projects, cutting emissions and green hydrogen production.
This fell within the framework of the 27th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27).
In statements on Sunday, Mulla stressed the importance of accelerating energy transition, cutting carbon emissions and producing green hydrogen and depending on modern technology in the mining domain.
He noted that there is a promising opportunity in the mining domain in Egypt, especially after legislative amendments.
He noted that there are Australian mining companies operating in Egypt, voicing hope to enhance cooperation in green hydrogen production.
Meanwhile, Whitby said Egypt represents an outstanding model for hosting the climate summit which will come up with positive results in the fields of energy transition and cutting emissions.
He added that Australia is exerting strenuous efforts to realize zero emissions in the petroleum industry by 2050.
