Egyptian airports raised the state of emergency and stressed the application of precautionary measures as part of the directives of Minister of Civil Aviation Mohamed Manar to intensify measures to confront the newly-discovered coronavirus variant Omicron as well as in light of the measures and decisions taken by the Supreme Committee for Coronavirus Crisis Management.
The committee is headed by Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli to confront the new mutator at Egyptian airports and to put in place mechanisms to deal with those coming to Egypt by air from African countries.
Engineer Mohamed Saeed Mahrous, head of the Egyptian Holding Company for Airports and Air Navigation, heads of subsidiaries, confirmed that in parallel with the intensification of precautionary measures at Egyptian airports, instructions were issued to continue applying preventive measures inside workplaces to confront the virus.
On the other hand, accountant Magdy Ishaq, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Cairo Airport Company, stressed the continuation and intensification of all precautionary measures taken to limit the spread of the coronavirus pandemic which the World Health Organization called “Omicron.”
Cairo International Airport witnessed an increase in disinfection operations for all travel and arrival halls, waiting places, restrooms, salons, boarding gates, escalators, elevators, offices and means of transporting workers, emphasizing the commitment of passengers and workers to wear medical masks while continuing social distancing and providing the necessary disinfectants in all halls and places that are frequented.
This comes while following the instructions issued by the World Health Organization regarding dealing with arrivals to Egypt through Cairo International Airport from countries in which Omicron appeared, with continuous follow-up of all publications issued by the Ministry of Health in this regard.
Coordination was also made between the Cairo Airport Company and the airport quarantine, headed by Dr. Hazem Hussein, to provide the necessary doses of vaccination against the coronavirus pandemic for workers and their families, airlines, all operating agencies and airport visitors, with an emphasis on taking the two doses and emphasizing the continuity of providing vaccines.
The Egyptian airports that have obtained health accreditation for safe travel within the AHA programme from the Airports International Council (ACI) since the beginning of the pandemic have reached 11 international airports, most notably Cairo International Airport, after the reviews that were made to ensure compliance with health procedures approved by local and international authorities.
