EgyptAir has successfully passed a three-day security audit conducted by the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) at Cairo International Airport and EgyptAir Airlines, reaffirming the national carrier’s compliance with US and international aviation security requirements.
The periodic audit assessed security procedures governing EgyptAir flights to New York, Washington, New Jersey, Chicago and Los Angeles, covering the full range of measures applied to safeguard US-bound operations.
The successful audit supports EgyptAir’s plans to expand its US operations and pursue additional destinations, with a robust security framework providing a vital foundation for sustainable growth.
Chairman of EgyptAir Holding Company, Pilot Ahmed Adel, said the successful completion of the audit demonstrates the effectiveness of EgyptAir’s security system and its ability to implement stringent international requirements.
He noted that the TSA team commended the quality of procedures, co-operation and professionalism demonstrated throughout the inspection, reflecting the continuous efforts of EgyptAir’s teams to maintain the highest levels of readiness and compliance.
The comprehensive review covered air cargo and mail security, including screening, safeguarding and supply-chain integrity at the EgyptAir Cargo complex, as well as the security of in-flight supplies and services provided by EgyptAir In-Flight Services.
It also examined passenger and checked-baggage screening, aircraft protection and access controls, and measures to prevent unlawful interference and other threats to aviation security.
The audit further assessed adherence to approved procedures, their effective implementation, and coordination among the entities and sectors responsible for flight security.
Head of the Security Sector at EgyptAir Holding Company Major General Ismail Safwat confirmed that the audit demonstrated the advanced level of EgyptAir’s security system, the competence of its personnel and their adherence to US-specific requirements.
He stressed that the security sector continuously monitors US requirements and updates operational procedures accordingly, ensuring sustained compliance beyond inspection periods.
