Egypt has welcomed the agreement reached between the US and the Islamic Republic of Iran, describing it as a highly significant development that could help restore security and stability at both the regional and international levels.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday, the country voiced hopes that the agreement would mark a major turning point toward strengthening mutual trust, establishing new foundations for cooperation, and creating a supportive environment for peace.
Over recent months, Egypt, under directives by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, has carried on with its serious and sincere efforts, in coordination with regional and international partners, to bring the US-Iran war to an end, and open a new chapter that enhances security and stability across the region.
Egypt also reiterated its longstanding commitment to peaceful solutions and the settlement of disputes through diplomatic means, and stressed that dialogue and negotiation ‘remain essential approaches to achieving peace and consolidating stability’.
Such efforts, it noted, are consistent with the principles of international law and the UN Charter and contribute to reducing tensions.
Egypt also renewed its hope that the end of the war will redirect international attention to the severe humanitarian and security conditions facing the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, as well as accelerating efforts to begin implementing the 2nd phase of US President Donald Trump’s peace plan.
