The Arab Republic of Egypt expresses its appreciation for the announcement by the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan regarding a temporary truce on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.
In a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry on Wednesday, Egypt views this development as a constructive step toward reducing tensions and fostering an environment conducive to the resumption of the peace process between the two nations.
It added that the state also underscores that this truce offers a vital opportunity to build mutual trust and lay the groundwork for a lasting ceasefire, which is essential to ending the loss of civilian lives and advancing security and stability across the region.
Furthermore, Egypt stresses the importance of prioritising dialogue, diplomacy, and peaceful measures to resolve conflicts and address outstanding challenges, thereby strengthening prospects for sustained regional peace and co-operation.
