Egypt welcomed the initiative announced by Saudi Arabia to end the Yemeni crisis and reach a comprehensive political solution in Yemen.
This comes through a comprehensive ceasefire, the opening of Sana’a airport for a number of flights and the start of consultations between the Yemeni parties under the auspices of the United Nations based on Security Council Resolution 2216, the Gulf initiative, its implementation mechanisms and the outcomes of the comprehensive Yemeni national dialogue.
In a statement released by the Foreign Ministry, Egypt appreciated the sincere efforts of Saudi Arabia and its relentless keenness to reach a comprehensive settlement in Yemen that ends its political and humanitarian crisis and works to give priority to the interest of the Yemeni people and to create the atmosphere for the resumption of the political process in order to reach a comprehensive solution to the Yemeni crisis.
Egypt also called on all Yemeni parties to respond to the Saudi initiative in order to stop the bloodshed of the brotherly Yemeni people and support efforts to bring peace to Yemen.
