The Egyptian Foreign Ministry welcomed Sunday the call of French President Emmanuel Macron to halt arms exports to Israel.
This came against the backdrop of grave violations of international law and international humanitarian law committed by the Israeli army in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon, which left tens of thousands of civilians killed and injured, most of them are women and children.
The call launched by the French president is consistent with the principles and rules of international humanitarian law and reflects the growing dissatisfaction at the international level with the brutal Israeli aggression against Gaza and Lebanon, according to the Foreign Ministry.
The Foreign Ministry, meanwhile, reiterated calls for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in both the Gaza Strip and Lebanon.
It further lauded France’s support to the rights of the Palestinian people and the establishment of a Palestinian state, with Al Quds (occupied East Jerusalem) as its capital.
